PIKOLINOS POP UP STORE IN NYC, a 2-floor video mapping installation

On a landmark building at 32 Gansevoort street, the Spanish shoe brand PIKOLINOS has opened its doors to their first store in USA, designed by the multidisciplinary NY-based branding studio MERRY+VALENZUELA. The team formed by the founders of the company Laura Valenzuela and Bea Merry, the Interior Designer Alex Perinat, and Video Artists and Installation Maker Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger, has created a wonderful mediterranean-infused space in the heart of the Meatpacking District.
Upstairs a video installation based on the three collections: the Maasai collection, the Colors collection and the fantastic Spring/Summer shoe and bag collection. Downstairs in the store cellar, check out the "Maasai Lab": video installations highlighting Maasai culture and the company’s commitment to cutting-edge technology, innovation, continuous evolution and a forward-looking vision.
The "Maasai Lab in the Cellar" was conceived as a sensorial and multimedia experience for all audiences to discover the Maasai culture and promote creativity. Through sounds, video, textiles, objects and interaction, you will be able to explore, understand, feel and experience the landscapes of Kenya, the beauty of its fashion, the work of these women and the significant involvement of Pikolinos with the non profit ADCAM, which allows the Maasai women to sustain their entire community.
Open from April 16, 2013 to January 31, 2014

Today, the Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies. With the quality of non-broadcast productions, traditional local and cable television commercials and programming on the rise, along with the world of online video continuing to rapidly evolve, we are excited to see this year's class of entries.

April 2013: Video Animation Patient Portal for New Yorker

Video Animation for the new campaign of NYeC
Client: New York eHealth Collaborative
Animation by Isabelle Duverger
Music Editing by Laia Cabrera
Laia Cabrera and Co. laiacabrera.com/company

The Patient Portal for New Yorkers will allow patients simple, secure online access to their personal health information, via the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY). Currently, only providers can access this network, but this is about to change.
Similarly to the way online banking works, the patient portal will permit you to review the details of your own health records and medical history, empowering you to take charge of your health. As with secure online banking, your healthcare records are highly protected, and only available to be viewed by you, and the healthcare providers (or family members) to whom you grant consent.
“Consent” is the term used to describe giving formal access to someone to view your healthcare data. You can consent to allow a hospital access to your records, or just your primary care physician, family members, specialists, etc. You can add consents or revoke them at any time, via the patient portal website.
An additional security measure is built into the retrieval of your health records which exceeds the security of online banking: When you log on to the portal, you can see a list of every person who has accessed your records. This way, you have full control, not only of your records, but of who else has viewed them.

First and foremost, a message from Fernando Arrabal himself:
Translation: "I found your realization fantastic, original, colorful and very rhythmical... A truly inventive work, an authentic research of the text polysemy... and of its staging... I believe Jerome Bosch himself would have enjoyed this approach, his fantasy at once controlled and seemingly unbridled... the videos... I would love that a show of this quality that it meets the success it deserves... Congratulate all the team once more... I have fond memories of my evening..."

"DARK AND DELIGHTFUL" Stage and Cinema

"many of the time/space transformations are accomplished with the aid of video images projected onto several flats set up on the stage (projection design, video-art and animations by Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger). It’s an interesting concept, creating multi-layered, colorful worlds." - Stage and Cinema

"It is a stimulating, modern production, full of techno music and video projections, including snippets of Bosch's famous painting The Garden of Earthly Delights." - nytheatre.com

"The projections and videos by Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger make for an incredibly colorful and sensual performance. Scenery changes every few seconds, and video projections show Lais's soliloquies from many different angles." - nytheatre.com

"The designers, Ildiko Nemeth, Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger, provide a simple clean set of flats with marvelous projections playing on them, including Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights, and a huge egg as a prop, and there is a terrific soundscape with music by Jon Gilbert Leavitt. Lighting by Federico Restrepo enhances everything. Nemeth has directed with great timing and synchronization of sound, projections and acting, and she can capture you into the strange Arrabal’s surreal universe: an artistic adventure well done." - Lively-Arts.com
